What's for Breakfast?
At Low Penhowe we pride ourselves on the excellence of our Aga cooked breakfasts, offering a variety of local and homemade produce. Enjoy a selection of our own free-range eggs, and from our butcher, locally cured bacon, black pudding and sausages. Even the tomatoes and mushrooms are all sourced locally. As an alternative our guests are able to enjoy kippers from Bridlington and home roasted York ham. To finish off your breakfast we offer homemade marmalade and jams, home baked bread and honey from village farms.
We are proud to have been awarded our “Deliciously Yorkshire Breakfast” seal of approval; more recently we have been awarded “2006 Breakfast Champion’s for the UK, “Taste of Yorkshire Finalist” and in November we were selected as winners for “Best Yorkshire Breakfast” for the 2006 Deliciouslyorkshire Award for our commitment to the promotion of delicious, healthy breakfasts using regional produce. As “Yorkshire Finalist” for 2007 the judges commented as follows “The standard was extremely high and totally above reproach; warm welcome, excellent service, great food, and beautiful surroundings. We in Yorkshire should be extremely proud of having guest accommodation of this standard.”

The Farmhouse Breakfast competition was organised by HGCA (Home Grown Cereals Authority). The campaign highlights the wealth of high-quality regional breakfast produce and reminds us all of the importance of making time for breakfast!
Judge Kate Baumber on behalf of HGCA declared that the breakfast produce and exceptional service given at Low Penhowe was indeed worthy of ‘Breakfast Champion’ status. She was particularly impressed by the use and promotion of locally produced quality ingredients. “The Turners certainly make time for breakfast, using an AGA to cook all ingredients. They prove that healthy eating can be absolutely delicious!”
This is how Regional Food Group for Yorkshire and Humber described us on winning the Best Yorkshire Breakfast:-
Best Yorkshire Breakfast Winner:
Low Penhowe, Burythorpe, Malton
How do you fancy a breakfast of free range eggs from the garden, kippers from Bridlington, home-roasted York ham, muesli from an organic farm in Driffield, bacon from Elvington, sausages made in the next village, home-baked bread made from local organic flour, butter from the Dales, jam made by friends and relatives and home-grown tomatoes? All cooked on the Aga in a traditional Yorkshire stone-built farmhouse, with stunning views across the Howardian Hills, the Yorkshire Wolds and across to the North Yorkshire Moors.
The judges did, which is why Philippa and Christopher Turner won first prize for their B&B Low Penhowe, a member of the Deliciouslyorkshire Breakfast Scheme, aimed at promoting and celebrating Yorkshire produce to all visitors
